ISLAMABAD: Well-placed sources have revealed that President Arif Alvi has decided to dissolve the assemblies after Prime Minister Imran Khan had advised him to do so following the no-confidence motion verdict by the National Assembly Speaker.
A certain defeat faced the sitting government at the no-confidence voting here on Sunday when the NA Speaker turned the tables by dismissing the motion under the Article 5 of the Constitution. Prime Minister Imran Khan quickly addressed the nation shortly, stating that he had advised President Alvi to dissolve the assemblies.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties have claimed that they would protest the decision by the NA Speaker with President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Shehbaz Sharif urging authorities that the prime minister and NA speaker be tried under Article 6 of the Constitution.
