ISLAMABAD: Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has been given authority by Parliamentarians of the Pakistan Muslim League–Q to make all decisions regarding the party as well as official decisions in addition to his capacity as President of the PML-Q.
The federal government’s decision to raise petrol prices yesterday by Rs.12/- also alarmed the Parliamentary Party who criticised the choice and argued that if relief was not given to the common man, it would create a difficult situation.
PML-Q senior leaders met on Wednesday in a meeting headed by the Party’s Central Secretary-General Tariq Bashir Cheema which also included all of the party’s MNAs, MPAs and Senators. The decision was taken there and signals confidence of the party in Elahi.
Prior to the meeting at an event on Monday, it was publicly stated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan that he had full confidence in the family of PML-Q’s Moonis Elahi, stating that those who were worried were meeting with Elahi and Chauhdry Shujaat Hussain.
