KARACHI: Arriving here for his inaugural visit to the bustling metropolis since assuming office as Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif embarked on a day-long itinerary filled with significant engagements.
Commencing his visit with a solemn gesture of reverence, the prime minister paid homage at the iconic Mazar-e-Quaid, offering prayers and signing the guestbook to express his aspirations for the nation’s prosperity.
Subsequently, a high-level conclave convened under the auspices of PM Sharif at the Chief Minister’s House, heralding a collaborative effort to address pressing issues. Notable attendees included Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Owais Leghari, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Musadik Malik, Jam Kamal, and Ataullah Tarar, alongside esteemed dignitaries from Sindh, comprising provincial ministers and officials.
During the deliberations, CM Murad extended felicitations to the prime minister on his re-election, underscoring the significant representation from Sindh in the federal cabinet. Expressing optimism, Murad voiced confidence in Prime Minister Shehbaz’s proactive approach to tackle challenges effectively.
In a comprehensive briefing, CM Murad apprised the prime minister of the aftermath of the 2022 floods, delineating funding allocations and emphasising the need for expeditious action. Murad highlighted the disparities in federal schemes, citing inadequate project allocations and delays in crucial initiatives.
Drawing attention to pending projects, CM Murad underscored the imperative of expediting approvals and addressing right-of-way issues for key infrastructural endeavors, including the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project.
In response, PM Shehbaz assured swift action and collaboration to address the concerns raised, reaffirming his commitment to fostering inclusive development and prosperity across the nation.
Later in the day, PM Shehbaz engaged with prominent figures from the business community and delegates from the Karachi Chamber of Commerce, soliciting their insights and recommendations to invigorate the country’s economy.
