KARACHI: In what has clearly been a busy day in the office for Prime Minister Imran Khan, he first met the leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) ahead of the no-confidence motion filed by the opposition. He spoke at a rally afterwards where he assailed the Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif.
The prime minister was accompanied by federal ministers Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Ali Zaidi when he visited the MQM-P’s headquarter in Bahadurabad. According to the statement released by the premier’s office, the ally of the government from Karachi assured him of supporting at the no-confidence motion.
However, when a question regarding supporting the prime minister on no-confidence motion was brought up, one of the MQM-P leaders asserted that the party had other options too despite being an ally.
IMRAN ASSAILS ZARDARI, SHEHBAZ
Speaking at a rally here, Mr Khan went all guns blazing at Zardari and criticised him for faking illness to avoid the course of justice. “Asif Zardari, your time is up,” said the prime minister, adding that the former president was involved in money-laundering, corruption, and the killings of several people.
He said that Zardari had offered a whopping Rs200 million to one of his aides to switch loyalties ahead of the no-confidence motion. Criticising the younger Sharif brother, Mr Khan insinuated that Shehbaz could do anything to appease the “Generals” by calling him a “boot polisher”.
