GWADAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken notice of the “very legitimate demands” of the fishermen here who had been protesting for their rights for almost a month now.
The people of Gwadar have been coming out on streets in large numbers, demanding basic rights for themselves. One of the core demands of the protestors was to put an end to illegal means of fishing by trawlers. The prime minister in a tweet has said that strong action will be taken against trawlers for illegal fishing.
I have taken notice of the very legitimate demands of the hardworking fishermen of Gwadar. Will be taking strong action against illegal fishing by trawlers & will also speak to CM Balochistan.

The protest rose to a crescendo on Friday when hundreds and thousands of people came out on streets demanding access to basic necessities like clean drinking water and better healthcare facilities. Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, Balochistan general-secretary of Jamaat-i-Islami is leading the protest and has said that the protest will continue until the citizens get what they want.
