KARACHI: On Wednesday morning, a routine Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Karachi to Skardu faced an unexpected hurdle, forcing it to divert its course and make an unscheduled landing in Multan.
Flight PK-455, operated by the national carrier, departed from Karachi at 6:10 am as per its schedule. However, mid-flight, the Airbus aircraft encountered a technical issue, prompting the captain to swiftly decide on an emergency landing at Multan airport.
Sources familiar with the incident revealed that upon inspection, engineers determined that the aircraft had suffered a bird strike during its journey. The impact of the bird strike necessitated the precautionary landing in Multan.
Following the landing, a thorough examination of the plane was conducted by the airline’s maintenance team. After ensuring that the aircraft was safe for travel, passengers were given the green light to continue their journey on the same flight.
