Spokesperson and Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill took to Twitter on Monday to announce that the prime minister had not approved the summary to increase the petroleum prices.
Gill added that Prime Minister Imran Khan had deferred the summary on grounds of the government bearing the brunt of the inflation in order to provide relief to the public. According to Gill, the prime minister said that the increasing petroleum prices had more to do with the ever-increasing inflation globally.
The announcement has been made by the Government of Pakistan that the prices of petroleum will not be increased till Feb 15. It was reported last week that the petroleum prices would be hiked by Rs10-15/litre owing to the surge in the prices globally.
