LAHORE: During a meeting with senior journalists, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan claimed that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had contacted him for talks. Imran’s claim came after the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ishaq Dar met with President Dr Arif Alvi regarding the appointment of a new army chief.
According to the statement by Imran, the incumbent government conveyed the message through Dr Alvi. However, Imran said he was not negotiating with the government until they announced general elections.
Mr Imran commented that government was afraid of his popularity and he would beat them with the support of the people.
The claims made by the PTI chief have been denied by the PML-N representatives. A leader of the party said that Dar contacted Dr Alvi to know his thoughts on the summary for the appointment of the new chief of army staff.
