KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board expressed its disappointment in the comments made by the President Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Jay Shah on Tuesday. Shah had said that India would not travel to Pakistan to participate in the Asia Cup next year.
The PCB released a press release in which it said that the ACC president made the comments without consulting the PCB. “The comments were made without any discussion or consultation with the Board of the Asian Cricket Council or the Pakistan Cricket Board (event host) and without any thoughts towards their long-term consequences and implications,” reads the press release.
PCB added that the decision of handing over the hosting rights to Pakistan were made in a meeting of the ACC, presided over by Shah. It further said that the decision could affect Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup next year and the ICC events scheduled in India from the 2024-2031 cycle.
