ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced on Friday that the country had recorded more than 8,000 Covid cases in a single day. This marks the first instance when the country has reported confirmed Covid cases in excess of the 8,000 benchmark since the onset of the ongoing pandemic.
According to the NCOC, the positivity ratio stayed at 11.92 per cent across the country. Pakistan also saw a surge in the number of Covid related deaths as the number grew to 30 in the last 24 hours.
The number of patients under critical care has also risen to 1,353 indicating that the country’s healthcare is feeling the after-effects of the fifth wave of the coronavirus.
Of the total 68,624 tests conducted yesterday, 8,183 came back as positive. This is also the first time in nearly four months that the country has reported 30 deaths. Pakistan had only recently recorded the highest number of daily cases with 7,678 on January 21.
