The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast significant weather changes as moist currents from the Arabian Sea advance into the southern and central regions of the country. A trough of shallow westerly waves is expected to impact the upper and southern areas within the next 12 to 24 hours.
On Thursday, isolated locations in central and northeast Punjab, Islamabad, and southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are anticipated to experience windstorms and thunderstorms during the afternoon. By evening and night, these weather conditions are expected to extend to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), northeast Balochistan, and central and southern Punjab. Other parts of the country are likely to remain hot and dry.
For Friday, the forecast predicts isolated windstorms and thunderstorms in AJK, GB, KP, south Punjab, and northeast Balochistan. The rest of the country will continue to experience hot and dry weather.
In the past 24 hours, most of Pakistan has faced hot and dry conditions, with very hot weather reported in southern regions. However, isolated areas in the Pothohar region, central and southern Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced windstorms and thunderstorms.
