ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said here on Thursday that Pakistan was not able to fight against the scourge of terrorism because it was not fully ready yet. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of “charter of peace”.
Chaudhry hit back at the critics stating that it had nothing to do with efficacy of the measures taken to counter the terrorism, instead neither the government nor the state were fully ready to take on the challenge of eradicating terrorism completely.
He cited the example of the recent Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan stand off with the government where the latter had to take a step back to diffuse the situation. He acknowledged that the government was indeed facing a monumental challenge in the form of growing terrorism.
The comments come on the same day the TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi was released after being in detention for seven months.
