The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced Pakistan’s squad for the T20 series against Pakistan where Shadab Khan will be the captain. Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, M. Rizwan and some key players are not part of the squad. Read the full squad in the link below:
Star All-rounder Shadab Khan has been named as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team for the Sharjah tour where Pakistan will face Afghanistan for the T20 series.
Some seasoned players including captain Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi are rested. On the other hand, due to an unimpressive performance in the HBL PSL 8 Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Mohammad Hasnain and Khushdil Shah are dropped from the squad.

Chairman PCB Najam Sethi congratulated Shadab Khan on being appointed as captain of the Pakistan team. He stated that Shadab Khan has served as vice-captain in white-ball cricket and it is logical to give him a charge in the absence of Babar Azam. Najam Sethi added that Mohammad Yousuf would act as the interim head and batting coach for a short tour of Sharjah.
Chairperson of the selection committee, Haroon Rashid said that
Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, M. Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi are rested so they could complete their rehabilitation and recompose process. He added that squad has been selected by keeping the T20 World Cup 2024 in mind.
Pakistan will tour Sharjah for three T20 matches between March 24 to March 27, 2023.
