WASHINGTON: NASA has announced a new project which will be a part of its Earth Venture Programme that will help determine the behaviour of thunderstorms & tropical hurricanes and their effects on climate change. The new mission is set to be launched by 2027.
The project aims to explain the formation of convective storms and precipitation. The monitoring will be done through a cluster of SmallSats, known as Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS), selected by the Earth Venture Mission-3 (EVM-3).
The core mission of EVM-3 is to conduct thorough investigations about essential science queries. The mission is expected to cost around $177 million excluding launch charges.
