Monsoon showers persisted in Karachi, with Nazimabad recording the highest rainfall at 77mm by Monday morning, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD forecast indicates that the city is likely to experience moderate to heavy rains today, but there is no expectation of a severe downpour. The weather is predicted to be partly cloudy, with periods of sunshine following the morning showers on Monday.
Nazimabad saw the most significant rainfall, with 77mm, followed by Sarjani Town with 72mm. In contrast, Sadar and DHA received the lowest rainfall, measuring only 2mm each.
The PMD’s Monsoon Alert on Monday reported that strong monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are currently impacting Sindh. Karachi can expect light rain and drizzle on Wednesday.
Additionally, a new monsoon system is anticipated to bring more rain to the city starting August 12, potentially leading to further wet conditions in the region.
