ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has approved the mini-budget on Thursday. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed in his tweet that the budget would be presented before the National Assembly.
Earlier on Tuesday, the approval was deferred by the cabinet. The members feared that the approval for the budget will bring strong criticism amid rising inflation. Members from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also showed reservations over introducing the mini-budget after the setback in KP by-elections.
Opposition parties have already announced to strongly oppose the mini-budget. Senator Khuwaja Asif has said that the approval of the SBP amendment and supplementary finance bill will further weaken the country’s economy.
Representatives of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) including Sherry Rehman and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf also voiced their concerns regarding the mini-budget.
