Former finance minister Miftah Ismail did not hold back from criticising the government for not taking the International Monetary Funds into confidence before freezing petroleum development levy (PDL). He termed the decision of the government as “reckless”.
Although, he did point out that what the PTI-led government was unforgivable. According to Miftah, the PTI did not only not fulfill its agreement, but vibrantly went on to violate it by decreasing the PDL and freezing the petroleum prices for four months.
He said that the PTI nearly bankrupted the entire country.
1. Shaukat bhai but you did violate the agreement you made with the IMF. You agreed to increase Sales Tax to 17% but reduced it to zero. You agreed to raise Petrol Levy every month by Rs 4 to Rs 30 but brought it to zero. You agreed to not give amnesty but gave one anyway. https://t.co/UfEe4JJfcS
