Finance Minister Miftah Ismail took to Twitter to announce on Tuesday that the country had received “an MEFP from the IMF for combined 7th and 8th reviews.” The MEFP (Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies) is received following the meetings held between the IMF and the finance ministry last week.

It is pertinent to mention here that former finance minister Shaukat Tarin had criticised the “premature celebrations” of securing the deal with the IMF, stating that the deal was still a work in progress since an MEFP had not been received.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also claimed that the IMF could extend a loan of $2bn to Pakistan.
