After the allegations of the Medical Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT 2023-24) paper leak, the Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) Vice Chancellor Prof Amjad Siraj Memon has taken action to investigate the matter and has formed a committee.
JSMU was assigned the responsibility for MBBS & BDS admission tests for the year 2023-24, and the university also prepared the written examination papers. MDCAT written test were held under the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council at the central level until 2021. But, in 2022, ex-provincial health minister Abdul Qadir Patel, in 2022, gave its control to the provinces through the 18th amendment.
JSMU registrar Dr Azam Khan will be the secretary of the committee comprising of:
- Prof Syed Masroor Ahmed
- Dean of the faculty of medical and allied sciences at JSMU
- Additional Health Secretary Maula Bakhsh Shaikh
- Representative of the PMDC regional office in Karachi Mr. Aleemuddin
The committee will also include an official of grade 17 or above as a representative of the Federal Investigation Agency – Cyber Crime Wing. MDCAT holds an essential position in determining the future of thousands of students who dream of being medical doctors of Pakistan.
The first meeting will be held immediately after the formation of the committee which will submit its report within one week to the higher authorities about the paper leak in MDCAT 2023-24.
