Light rain on Monday morning has caused significant disruptions to traffic flow in various parts of Karachi, leading the city’s traffic police to issue precautionary measures for commuters.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Karachi Traffic Police advised drivers and motorcyclists to reduce their speed, emphasising that the light drizzle had made roads slippery. The statement also warned against sudden braking and recommended that motorcyclists stick to the left side of the road for safer commuting.
Several road closures have been implemented to manage the traffic disruption. Both sides of the road between Fawara Chowk and Thana Street have been closed, with traffic from Fawara Chowk being rerouted to Zainab Market and Deen Muhammad Wafai Road. Conversely, traffic from Thana Street is being diverted to M.R. Kiyani Chowrangi.
Additionally, a statement posted at 9:40 AM on X indicated that traffic coming from Hasan Square is being diverted to University Road via Hasan Bridge due to road depressions caused by ongoing work by the Karachi Sewage and Water Board (KWSB).
In Gulistan-e-Johar, an overflow of sewage water in front of Rado Bakery has led to further diversions. Traffic from one side of the road has been redirected to a one-way route from Awami Colony to Rado Bakery.
