ISLAMABAD: Zahir Jaffer’s counsel has applied for a medical examination of the key suspect’s mental health on Wednesday. The application was filed by Advocate Sikandar Zulqarnain Saleem stating that Zahir was suffering from a mental illness that needed examination by a medical board.
On October 14, the prime suspect in the Noor Mukadam murder case was indicted by a trial court. The application said that Zahir was unable to follow the proceedings and made no response when the charges were filed against him. The application further added that the judge witnessed Zahir’s state of mind, which was also aired on multiple news channels.
On November 3, Zahir had interrupted the proceedings on account of inappropriate behaviour, following which Judge Rabbani ordered to take him out of the courtroom.
The application states that Zahir is a chronic mental patient suffering from a schizoaffective disorder caused by drug psychosis and was suffering from the disorder when he was arrested. It also states that security authorities willingly did not consider the condition because the complainant belonged to an influential family.
