The temporary Israel-Hamas truce expired on Friday, December 1 2023, after which the Israeli army continued the combat operations including air and artillery strikes on Gaza. A statement from the Israeli army claimed that Hamas violated the operational pause and fired at Israeli territory, which provoked them to resume combat in the Gaza Strip against the Hamas terrorist organization.
International news reports stated that Israeli warplanes carried out artillery fire inside Gaza City and a series of strikes. The reports added that drones were also used for the first time since the truce over the south of the territory.
CNN, while citing the Interior Ministry in Gaza, reported that Israeli military vehicles continued firing in northwest Gaza just after minutes the week-long Israel-Hamas truce expired.
Qatar and Egypt once again entered the scene as mediators to initiate talks between Israel and Hamas for the renewing of the Gaza truce.
