In a truly bizarre incident, Apple has been forced to put its iPhone plant in India ‘on probation’. The announcement was made by the tech giant on Wednesday in the wake of protests by employees, several of whom, suffered from food poisoning.
According to the details, some 250 women employees of Apple complained of food poisoning; 159 of whom had to be rushed to hospital(s) for treatment. The employees protested about the poor living conditions of the hostel they have been kept in, forcing Apple to keep its factory closed since December 18.
The tech giant stated that it was sorry for the issue that the employees experienced and was taking immediate steps to enhance the facilities and services it provided at the remote dormitory accommodations.
“We are also restructuring our local management team and our management systems to ensure we can achieve and maintain the high standards that are needed,” said a spokesperson for Apple’s Foxconn India.
