PESHAWAR: On Tuesday morning, an improvised explosive device (IED) blast took place on the Warsak Road in Peshawar. Rescue and police officials reported that three children got severely injured in the blast.
According to the officials, around four kilogrammes of explosives were planted in a cemented block on the side of the road. The rescue and police officials cordoned off the area to carry out further investigation. A rescue worker of 1122 unveiled that the blast shattered the windshields of two Suzuki vans and windows of nearby buildings.
The spokesperson of the Peshawar Lady Reading Hospital said that two children, injured by the Warsak Road blast, were in critical condition and all children aged between seven and ten.
Terror Activities Escalating
During the last months of 2023, the terror attacks surged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In November 2023, a blast in Dera Ismail Khan took five lives and injured 20 people. Note, that in January one of the most tragic blasts occurred in Peshawar mosque that killed 88 people.
Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), in their report, said that a 34pc hike has been seen in anti-state violence during November 2023.
Only KP reported 51 attacks, in which 54 people died and 81 were injured. Balochistan reported nine attacks, in which 18 people died, including 15 security forces personnel.
