ISLAMABAD: After the International Monetary Funds (IMF) had halted the $1 billion tranche from the bailout programme, the newly appointed government has decided to continue the negotiations.
The official announcement of IMF’s programme restoration would be made after a fresh round of meetings between the government officials and the IMF. Points like subsidies, amnesty, and any new conditions that may apply, would be discussed during the talks.
Some key government officials would virtually participate in talks. However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has not finalised the cabinet members and most importantly, the finance minister who would continue the discussion on behalf of the government.
