KARACHI: On Sunday, $1.4 billion worth of heroin was claimed to be recovered by the provincial excise and taxation department here in Surjani Town.
Minister Narcotics Control and Taxation & Excise Mukesh Kumar Chawla briefed the media in a press conference about the raid. The raid was carried out in Surjani Town, sector 70-D, where a person named Mohammad Usman was arrested as the key suspect.
The minister called it the largest recovery ever made in Karachi during a raid. The department recovered 500kg of charas and 304 kilograms of heroin, along with 38kgs of material used for drug manufacturing.
According to Mr Chawla, the recovered charas was worth $1.5 million, and the heroin was valued at $1.4 bn. He applauded the officials who were involved in the raid.
