RAWALPINDI: During Wednesday’s practice session, Azam Khan encountered discomfort in his right knee and calf muscle while batting in the nets. Swiftly attended to by the medical staff, he received immediate treatment, announced the Pakistan Cricket Board in a press release.
Azam is presently under the medical team’s supervision, with his participation in the upcoming matches against New Zealand contingent upon the findings of radiological assessments.
Pakistan is set to commence their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 today at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where they will face New Zealand in the first of five matches. The Rawalpindi venue will host matches on Saturday and Sunday, while Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the remaining two matches next week, on Thursday and Saturday.
This marks the third five-match series between Pakistan and New Zealand within a 12-month period. Last year, the series in Pakistan ended in a draw at two-all, while New Zealand secured a 4-1 victory earlier this year on their home turf.
