ISLAMABAD: Covid-19’s fifth wave is loosening its grip over Pakistan as the country is on its way to recover from the havocs it wrecked since the discovery of the latest variant ‘Omicron’. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 2,400 cases of coronavirus were reported during the past day.
The data shared by the NCOC indicates clear weakening of the fifth wave that had seen Pakistan report a record number of cases almost on a daily basis. The Covid positivity rate has also come down to less than 5 per cent for the second time this week.
The NCOC’s data shows that 33 more people lost their lives to the virus during the last 24 hours. A total of 48,744 tests were conducted in Pakistan in the last 24 hours. The number of patients on critical care stands at 1,496.
