KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has issued the directive to remove Mushtaq Mahar, Inspector General of Police (IG), from his post. He will report to the establishment division, whereas, Dr Kamran Fazal has been nominated as the new IG Sindh.
The decision has been made due to the worsening security conditions in Karachi. In the past few weeks, three attacks took place in the metropolitan city. It started with the Karachi University suicide attack by Balochistan Liberation Army, which killed four people including three Chinese nationals.
Then on May 12, the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army attacked the Saddar area, where nine people got injured and one died. Recently an explosion in Kharadar Iqbal Market took one life and left 11 injured.
