Lahore: President Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) & former chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has been detained under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) for one month.
According to the notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Raifa Haider, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi will be kept in custody in Camp Jail Lahore for 30 days to stop public disorder. The notification added that President PTI will stay under the Superintendent of Camp.
Parvez Elahi has been mentioned in three cases, registered in Qila Gujar Singh police station & Ghalib Market. On Saturday, the Lahore police requested a thirty-day detention order for the former CM under Section 3 of MPO.
Two cases registered in Qila Gujjar Singh (with FIR – no 22/604 & 22/1822), and one case in Ghalib Market (with FIR – no 23/1150) states that Elahi and his companions were involved in putting resistance against law enforcement agencies, arson, and terrorism.
DC Raifa Haider said that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi is eligible to contact the Punjab government against the decision.
On July 11, Parvez Elahi got bail from the banking court as he was facing cases for suspicious transactions.
