QUETTA: After a closure of 27 days, the Chaman-Spin Boldak border crossing has been finally reopened on Tuesday by the Afghanistan and Pakistan governments.
The decision to reopen the border was made in a meeting between the higher authorities of the two countries a day earlier to allow the citizens to cross the border and resume the trade activities.
As per the details, the Afghan security forces removed all the barricades and boulders that were placed by them, with the border being operational from 8:00am to 5:00pm. As soon as the border was reopened, it was flocked by thousands of eager citizens who wanted to go back to their respective countries.
It was, however, told by the immigration officers that all due procedures were being followed before allowing the citizens to cross the border. According to media reports, hundreds of trucks with goods moved into and from Afghanistan and Pakistan on Tuesday after the mandatory customs clearance.
