Pakistan football players and fans can rest easy…..for now. The governing body of the most-widely played and followed sport – football, FIFA, has decided to lift the ban on Pakistan after the body was convinced that its appointed Normalisation Committee (NC) had regained full control of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
Pakistan had been banned by FIFA for alleged governmental interference in its operations in the country. The body had appointed the NC to rehold the elections after it did not acknowledge the results of the Supreme Court-ordered elections – won by the Ashfaq Hussain group.
The removal of ban means that Pakistan’s men and women team are now eligible to participate in international football games – governed by FIFA.
