WASHINGTON: While speaking at a formal lunch at the Pakistan Embassy here, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa reiterated the point that after completing the three-year term for the second time he would retire from his position. The COAS is on a five-day visit to the United States, where he will meet senior representatives of the US government.
Gen Bajwa highlighted that the Pakistan army wanted to maintain a distance from politics. He added that the revival of the country’s economy had to be the top priority. COAS met the Deputy Secretary of States Wendy Sherman, National Security Adviser Jacob Sullivan, and the US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin.
Inter-Service Public Relations stated that both sides discussed regional security, bilateral relations in different fields, and matters of mutual interest.
