Rawalpindi: During an interview with Gulf News, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the role of the army is restricted to constitutional mandate, and the organisation has distanced itself from political matters. He added that the decision faced criticism from a segment of society, but it would enhance the prestige of the army.
COAS General Bajwa added that the nation has shown unmatched respect and trust to the Pak army. He said that the army cannot succeed without the support of nation, especially the youth, which constitutes 60 per cent of Pakistan’s population. General Bajwa will hand over the baton of command to the new COAS, General Asim Munir, on Tuesday ( 29 November 2022). ISPR posted that the ceremony will be held tomorrow.
