World Bank assures Rs116 billion to Sindh for flood-affected areas

KARACHI: According to the Information Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, the World Bank has given the assurance of Rs116 billion to rehabilitate the flood victims and construction of destroyed houses. During the press conference, he said that the chief secretary would supervise the operation and ensure the process remained transparent.

Memon added that Rs13 billion were required to build the infrastructure of Karachi and for the same purpose, the World Bank would provide Rs6 billion and the Sindh government would add Rs7 billion.

He also talked about rehabilitation and flood relief efforts. According to the Information Minister, 50 per cent of water has been eradicated from flood-hit areas. He added that relevant departments, including the Irrigation and Public Health Engineering, were working tirelessly on the dewatering process.
