Young trader killed during robbery bid in Karachi

Killed

A 22-year-old trader was tragically shot dead during a robbery attempt on New M.A. Jinnah Road on Sunday evening, according to police reports.

Jamshed Quarters SHO Imtiaz Husain Shah identified the victim as Hasan Arif, who was killed near Hasan Tyre Shop, adjacent to Islamia College, when he resisted the robbers. The assailants, who fled the scene without stealing anything, shot Arif in the chest. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The victim’s body was transported to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem. However, the victim’s relatives reportedly removed the body before the completion of medico-legal formalities.

Arif, a resident of Shumail Garden in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, was engaged to be married on December 12, his grieving family revealed.

The incident coincided with a Sindhi Culture Day rally passing through the area, police sources said. Initial investigations suggest that robbers entered the shop and shot the victim when he resisted.

SHO Shah confirmed that efforts are underway to obtain CCTV footage from the vicinity to establish the sequence of events. The police are awaiting the family’s decision to lodge a formal First Information Report (FIR).

In separate incidents on the same day, two individuals were injured during robberies in other parts of the city. Nabil Javed, 28, was shot near Seaview, while Waheed Akhtar, 42, sustained injuries in Kharadar. Both were rushed to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into all incidents, urging citizens to report any suspicious activity.
