Usman Buzdar resigns, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi likely to become new CM Punjab

ISLAMABAD: On Monday, a major development took place on the political front as Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar handed his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan. The federal government has confirmed to offer the CM Punjab designation to Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi (currently Speaker Punjab Assembly).

According to a tweet by the Information & Broadcasting Minister Farrukh Habib, PML-Q will announce its support for the incumbent government as all matters have been finalised.

The changes appeared after a no-confidence motion was filed against Buzdar in the Punjab Assembly by opposition leaders Samiullah Khan and Rana Mashood. Federal Minister Planning & Development Asad Umar subsequently met the PML-Q leadership and discussed the forthcoming developments.
