Urban flooding in Karachi, nine people die in rain-related incidents

KARACHI: Yesterday, heavy rain caused multiple incidents in which nine people died. The metropolitan city received intermediate to heavy rain throughout the day.

Multiple areas experienced urban flooding. Citizens were stranded in rainwater for hours.

Six people died of electrocution. A 20-year-old boy in Shoe Market, 23-year-old Raqeeb in Manghopeer, and 38-year-old Ruqayya in Landhi died due to electric shock. A child in North Nazimabad, an elderly man in Korangi, and a boy in Muhamamd Ali society also died in a similar incident.

Meanwhile, a young boy and his father drowned in the Gadap floodwater. The dead body of the boy has been recovered. The rescue teams are searching for the father’s dead body.
