TikTok Safety Initiatives for Young Teenagers

TikTok also launched special initiatives in response to feedback from parents. They expanded their content filtering capabilities within the Family Pairing feature. The new updates enabled parents to further customize the content their teenagers view while they are using the app.

The content filtering tool allowed parents to curate a tailored viewing experience for young children. The option filtered out specific words, hashtags, and themes that parents believe are inappropriate or unsuitable.

With Family Pairing, TikTok also introduced a Youth Council. The development occurred to give young users a voice and involve them in shaping the policies & features of TikTok. The Youth Council is a platform for teenagers where they can share their insights, ideas, and concerns. This would allow them to contribute to the ongoing development of an inclusive and safer TikTok community.
