Supreme Court orders to immediately register FIR of Wazirabad firing on Imran Khan

Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial has directed to lodge the First Information Report (FIR) of the Wazirabad incident where Imran Khan came under a firing attack. He gave the orders during the hearing against Imran Khan on contempt of court.

While hearing the plea, the chief justice remarked that it’s been 90 hours, and the case has not been registered. He added investigation cannot take place without FIR, and evidence can be manipulated. CJP Bandial asked IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar to arrive at the rostrum. IG Punjab attended the hearing through a video link.

He clearly stated that a Suo-moto action would be taken if the case was not lodged in 24 hours, and IG Punjab shall be answerable. The hearing was adjourned till next week on the request for more time from Khan’s lawyer Salman Akram.
