ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has been asked to submit the progress report on the APS attack case before the apex court hearing got adjourned for four weeks.

After being summoned in the Army Public School attack case, the prime minister reached the Supreme Court’s courtroom no.1 accompanied by his lawyers, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid and Information Ministry. Security officials and families of victims were also present at the hearing.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed headed the Supreme Court bench. He asked the Attorney-General about the government’s progress on addressing the grievances of the martyrs’ families.

He asked Attorney-General Khalid Jawed Khan if the prime minister had gone through the court’s order in which the AG was directed to take necessary measures on the victims’ families’ complaints. Earlier the chief justice gave surety to victims’ families that the court would make sure their demands were addressed,

“The AG has been put on notice on the complaints and asked to take action, as required by the law, and if those who have been named are found guilty of negligence in the performance of their duties, necessary measures should be taken,” read the order.

The AG told the court that they would send the PM the orders as orders were not forwarded yet on which the CJP showed dissatisfaction.

“Is this the level of seriousness? Call the prime minister we will talk to him ourselves. This cannot go on,” said the CJP.

The families had demanded to launch a first information report (FIR) against the culprits including the responsible civilian and military officials. Regarding the FIR, AG responded, “FIR could not be registered against the higher-ups”.
