Sindh records 300pc more than normal rain in August

KARACHI: On Thursday, the Chief Meteorologist Karachi Sardar Sarfraz, said that 300 per cent more than normal rainfall was recorded in Sindh during the first phase of August. The Pakistan Meteorological Department also shared data regarding the rainfall in different areas of Karachi.

The data unveiled that Gulshan-e-Hadeed has received 855mm of rain so far while PAF Base Masroor recorded 713mm of rain. Quaidabad recorded a rainfall of 669mm, followed by DHA with 612mm and Surjani Town with 556mm. 306mm of rain was recorded in Korangi. The unusual monsoon system filled up the Thado Dam to its full capacity.

The dam overflowed on Thursday and caused flooding in Anara Garden, Samira Chowk, New Ancholi and BCSIR Society. Residents of the areas are helpless and have no choice but to relocate to safer areas.
