Kartarpur

LAHORE: After the re-opening of the Kartarpur Corridor by the Indian government, 2,500 Sikh pilgrims arrived for Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary celebrations set to begin at the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib.

In a statement released by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the pilgrims received a warm welcome on their visit to Pakistan.

“Pakistan looks forward to welcoming Sikh pilgrims visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib through the Kartarpur Corridor from November 17,” read the statement.

Sardar Balvinder Singh, leader of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, said that they were thankful to Pakistan for the steps taken to protect Gurdwaras. He further added that Sikh pilgrims were feeling happy about the re-opening of the corridor. The Kartarpur Corridor was closed by the Indian government in March 2020 owing to the Covid outbreak.
