PM Shehbaz to form National Economic Advisory Council to overcome financial woes

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed to take long and short-term reforms to stabilise the economy and tackle the challenges that emerged during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.

PM Shehbaz also announced the formation of the National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC), which would comprise economists who would find solutions to overcome the economic problems of Pakistan. He added that after forming the federal cabinet, the federal government would announce plans to fight back inflation and the economic crunch.

Shehbaz further said that his announced relief initiatives, including the rise in pensions and setting the minimum wage to Rs25,000, were not enough to beat the inflation rate of 25pc.

Speculations suggest that Yousuf Nazar, Ali Cheema, Mian Mansha, and Muhammad Ali Tabba would be part of the NEAC.
