Russia tests Zircon hypersonic cruise missile

Russia

MOSCOW: Russia conducted a successful test of the Zircon hypersonic cruise missile on Monday. According to the country’s defence ministry, the missile aimed at a target 250 miles (400 kilometres) away in the Barents Sea and termed the test a success.

Russia has conducted a series of tests for the Zircon missile as it wants warships and submarines to be equipped with latest missiles. According to several reports, Russia tested its missile after China’s test flight of the hypersonic glider in July. However, China said that it conducted a reusable space vehicle test which was a routine test.

In recent times, Russia has been investing in multiple weapon development projects including Burevestnik cruise missiles and Sarmat intercontinental missiles to enhance its defence system.
