KARACHI: Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has been nominated for the ICC T20 Cricketer of the Year Award. Rizwan had a phenomenal 2021 both with the bat and behind the stumps with gloves.
He scored 1326 runs, including one century, in 29 matches, averaging a staggering 73.66. He also had a good outing with the wicketkeeping gloves and was directly involved in 24 dismissals.
Rizwan was struggling with the bat a year ago but saw his fortunes take a turn for good when he registered his first half century against the New Zealand in what turned out to be a consolation win for Pakistan. He has, since then, scored another 12 fifties and one century thus cementing his place in the team as the side’s reliable opening batter.
