Pakistan-origin actor Riz Ahmed and Deepika Padukone included in Oscars 2023 presenters’ list

The 95th Academy Awards, which will take place on March 12 in Los Angeles’ Dolly Theatre, has announced the list of this year’s presenters. The prestigious annual film awards have named Pakistani British actor Riz Ahmed and Indian actress Deepika Padukone as award presenters for the 2023 ceremony.

The list includes big names in the entertainment industry like Donnie Yen, Jonathan Majors, Janelle Monae, Ariana DeBose, Joining Padukone, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B Jordan, Samuel L Jackson, Melissa McCarthy, Zoe Saldana, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Troy Kotsur, Questlove, and Jennifer Connelly.

Fans of Deepika Padukone celebrated the news of her becoming the Oscar’s presenter. After she shared the news on Instagram, the fans lauded her for the achievement. Ranveer Singh showed his happiness with an angel face and clapping hands emojis.

The ceremony will be a special occasion for Riz Ahmed as he became an Oscar-winning actor in 2022. Ahmed won the Oscar for the short film The Long Goodbye. He was also the co-writer of the film with Aneil Karia. Riz also became the first Pakistan-origin actor to announce the Academy Awards nominations at Samuel Goldwyn Theater. During the live-streaming transmission, he was accompanied by Allison Williams. Riz Ahmed also won an Emmy for the miniseries The Night Of.

INDIA’S NOMINATION FOR OSCARS
Two Indian documentaries and one song will be seen competing for Oscar Awards 2023 in different categories. Song from the movie RRR, Naatu Naatu, will be competing for Best Original Song. The track had earlier won the Golden Globe Award.

Documentary All That Breathes by Shaunak Sen bagged the nomination for Best Documentary Feature Film. Meanwhile, the documentary The Elephant Whisperers by Guneet Monga is competing for the Best Documentary Short award.

Pakistan also sent their official submission to the Oscars 2023. Saim Sadiq’s Joyland was sent as official submission. However, the movie was unable to qualify for the nominations after successfully making to the list of shortlisted films.
