Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has advised his ally – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s leadership to mend its ways with the armed forces of Pakistan. The PTI leadership has had fragile ties with the Pakistan Army ever since the latter decided to stay “neutral” on the no-confidence voting.
Elahi has advised Imran Khan to abandon the stance taken by Shehbaz Gill and work towards re-strengthening his ties with the armed forces. He claimed that he had convinced Khan to drop the anti-army approach and that the new development had made the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz nervous.
Earlier, Gill was arrested after he criticised the military institution. In a separate but similar incident, the pro-PTI news channel ARY has also come under fire for allegedly criticising the Pakistan Army.
