PTI to move no-confidence motion against Dost Mazari

LAHORE: After appointing Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as chief minister of Punjab, the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has decided to move the no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Mazari. According to sources, Malik Taimur and Wasiq Qayyum are strong contenders for the Deputy Speaker position.

Earlier, the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan had discarded the ruling of Mazari. The deputy speaker had cancelled 10 votes of PML-Q based on Chaudhry Shujat’s direction through a letter. However, the apex court turned down the ruling and gave the verdict in favour of Elahi.

For the Punjab Speaker position, several names are under consideration. Mian Mehmood Rasheed, Aslam Iqbal and Zain Qureshi are hopeful for the seat. Former Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar is also a strong candidate for Speaker Punjab Assembly.
