LAHORE: The information and cultural department of Punjab has initiated a series of projects with The Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (Pilac) to preserve the heritage of Punjab.
According to the details, the project will include the Punjab Rung Satellite Television channel to showcase Sufism, cultural norms, traditions, folk musicians, folklore, and literature of Punjab. A village to depict the lifestyle of the province, accompanied by a crafts bazaar, will also be set under Pilac.
Director-General of Pilac Dr Sughra said that premises of Pilac will be utilised to settle studios for television shows for which licensing is under process.
Secretary of Information and Culture Raja Jahangir attended a meeting with Pilac authorities to finalise the execution of projects. The motive to initiate such projects is to safeguard the local culture of Punjab and preserve the typical village life, symbolical of cultural roots of the largest province of Pakistan.
